It's Moving Day

this print can be found + purchased here

After months of worrying and preparation, weeks of packing and saying our good byes, it's finally moving day. While it's exciting to finally be able to experience the west coast as a (temporary) resident, it is super bittersweet because New York is all I've ever known and I will reaaaaaally miss my family and friends. As we embark on this adventure together, I realize that nothing will ever be the same. Our plan doesn't extend past the two years that Ryan will be at USC. We could fall in love with sunny California and stay forever, move back to the east coast (where we're both from) or find an entirely new place to call home. But I couldn't be happier or more blessed to experience it all with Ryan, my best friend and partner in crime.

Hopefully our flight is smooth with Zoey in tow (I would hate to be the person on the plane with the crazy dog that is barking for 5 hours - she doesn't do that normally but it's her first flight and we have no idea what to expect). Barley is due to arrive a few days after us. He is to big to fly in the cabin with us so we purchased a ticket on Pet Airways. Crazy! An airline just for pets.

Our belongings should arrive tomorrow. Keep your fingers crossed that they all come intact - especially my presses. (Just thinking about them makes me antsy...)

See you in LA! :)

  3. I want you back on the East Coast, but I'm selfish. In all honesty, I know how hard it is to be far from family. But you're going to love CA and have fun for as long as you're there. Can't wait to see you soon!

  4. Hi! I met up with Brandi on Tuesday, and she told me that she was on her way downtown to meet a friend who had just arrived in LA, literally. I think you had arrived two hours before!

I just wanted to drop by and say, "Welcome!" I hope the move is going smoothly! If you have any questions about the city or want suggestions on where to go, please don't hesitate to ask!

  6. Welcome to the west side, Janie! I've never lived on the East coast before, so I can't really compare, but California will be a great pit stop for you guys.

I grew up in Seattle but consider California to be my second home because I've always spent summers with my relatives there when I was growing up. Either way, I hope the west coast will have a sweet spot in your life. Looking forward to hearing your adventures and your POV on what the west coast is like from a native East coaster.

  7. I think you'll love CA! It is hard to say your goodbyes, but the West Coast has such a different culture and lifestyle, it will be a fun 2 years (...or maybe more..) to experience and explore.
